With Ryanair you can change the date, time or route of your flight online up to 2.5 hours before departure, paying a change fee per person per flight plus any fare difference; if the new flight is cheaper, the difference is not refunded. Within 24 hours of booking you can correct minor date or time mistakes without a change fee. Flexi Plus fares are more flexible. Here is how to do it and what is worth it.
Ryanair flight change rules
| Situation | What you pay |
|---|---|
| Change within 24 hours of booking to correct a date or time | No change fee, only any fare difference |
| Normal change, up to 2.5 hours before the flight | Fee per person per flight, plus fare difference |
| New flight is cheaper | The difference is not refunded |
| Flexi Plus fare, change on the day of travel | No change fee, only the fare difference |
| The flight has already left without you | It can no longer be changed |
The fee is set out in Ryanair's table of fees and shown before you pay. If the booking includes an extra seat, the fee applies to it too.
How to change your flight, step by step
- Go to "My Bookings" on the Ryanair website or "My trips" in the app and log in to myRyanair.
- Choose "Manage this booking" and then "Change your flight".
- Enter the new date, time or route.
- Check the price breakdown: change fee and fare difference, including services already bought such as bags.
- Pay and receive your new itinerary by email.
Within the first 24 hours you can also reverse the route if you booked it the wrong way round (for example Dublin–Stansted instead of Stansted–Dublin) without a change fee.
Is changing your flight worth it?
- on a cheap fare, the fee and difference can be more than a new ticket: compare first;
- if your plans change often, Flexi Plus can cost less than paying for single changes;
- if you can no longer travel because of an emergency, read our guide to refunds when you cannot fly: airport taxes can still be refunded.
If Ryanair changes or cancels your flight
If the airline changes the times or cancels the flight, you pay no fee: you can choose between a refund and an alternative flight and, if you were told less than 14 days before, you may be owed compensation of €250, €400 or €600 per passenger, unless there were extraordinary circumstances. The same applies if the flight arrives 3 hours or more late. Everything is on our Ryanair delays and compensation page. With DelayFlight24 you can check for free in 2 minutes: you pay nothing upfront and our fee is 25% + VAT only if you get compensated.
