Vueling online check-in opens as soon as you book on the Fly, Fly Pro and Fly Grande fares, 15 days before departure on Fly Light with a chosen seat, and 24 hours before on Fly Light; it closes 50 minutes before departure on flights within the Schengen area. All you need is your booking code. If you cannot do it online, your boarding pass at the airport is free. Here are the times, the exceptions and what to do step by step.
When Vueling online check-in opens
| Fare or booking type | Online check-in opens |
|---|---|
| Fly, Fly Pro, Fly Grande, Premium customers | As soon as you book |
| Fly Light with TimeFlex Pack or Baggage Pack | As soon as you book |
| Fly Light with a chosen seat | 15 days before departure |
| Vueling Club members, Vueling Holidays, assistance requested | 7 days before departure |
| Fly Light | 24 hours before departure |
If your flight is more than a year away, you cannot check in straight after booking. For flights operated by Iberia, check-in opens 24 hours before and is done on Iberia's website or app.
When it closes: 50 minutes, with some exceptions
- Flights within the Schengen area (for example Barcelona–Rome): up to 50 minutes before departure.
- Flights to or from countries outside Schengen (for example London) and departures from Amsterdam: up to 70 minutes before.
- From Paris-Orly to non-Schengen destinations: up to 85 minutes before.
- Some airports close online check-in 4 hours before: including Birmingham, Helsinki, Oslo, Reykjavik, Malta, Budapest and Geneva.
If you fly from one of them, check in well in advance.
How to check in online, step by step
- Find your booking code in your confirmation email (you can have it sent again if you cannot find it).
- Go to check-in on the Vueling website or app and enter the code and surname.
- Confirm the passenger details and choose a seat if you want; otherwise one is assigned.
- Download your boarding pass to your phone or print it.
- On the day, if you have no checked bags go straight to security and the gate; if you do, stop at the desk only to drop them off.
If random seats are not available online, you will be given a seat free of charge at the desk on the day of the flight. Children can check in online if they were entered as minors when booking.
Airport check-in and gate times
- Desks: open 2 hours before on Schengen flights and 2 hours 20 minutes before on others; close 40 minutes before (Schengen) or 60 minutes before (non-Schengen).
- Gate: be there 40 minutes before departure; the gate closes 20 minutes before.
- Cost: if online check-in does not work, your boarding pass at the airport is free.
If your Vueling flight is delayed or cancelled
Checking in on time also matters for your rights: to claim compensation you must have turned up for boarding on time. If the flight arrives 3 hours or more late, is cancelled with less than 14 days' notice or you are denied boarding, you may be owed €250, €400 or €600 per passenger. Everything is on our Vueling delays and compensation page.
With DelayFlight24 you can check for free in 2 minutes: you pay nothing upfront and our fee is 25% + VAT only if you get compensated. For packing, read our guide to Vueling hand luggage.
