Evelop compensation, now Iberojet: up to €600 per passenger
You will not find Evelop on departure boards any more. In December 2020 the Spanish airline owned by the Barceló group merged with its Portuguese sister Orbest, and the two now fly under the Iberojet brand. The company operating the flights is still called Evelop Airlines S.L., registered in Palma de Mallorca. Whether your ticket says Evelop or Iberojet, your rights are exactly the same.
As a European carrier, it is covered by EU Regulation 261/2004 in both directions: outbound from Madrid and on the way home from the Caribbean or Central America.
Delay
You reached your destination three hours or more late, including on the return flight to Europe.

How much Evelop pays on long-haul routes
Almost its entire network crosses the Atlantic, so the top amount normally applies, whatever you paid for the package holiday.
| Route | Amount |
|---|---|
| Madrid–Cancún | €600 |
| Punta Cana–Madrid (return) | €600 |
| Madrid–San José, Costa Rica | €600 |
Each passenger is entitled, including children with their own seat.
Evelop flight delayed
Many people fly Evelop as part of a package and assume the tour operator owes them. It does not: compensation comes from the airline. Keep your boarding pass, notifications and receipts; on these routes you are owed meals after a 4-hour wait and a hotel if needed. After 5 hours you can abandon the trip and get the fare back. If you missed a connection on a single booking, your final arrival is what counts. See our page on a delayed Evelop flight.
Evelop flight cancelled
With a cancellation you choose between a refund and an alternative flight; compensation is added if you were told less than 14 days ahead, unless the replacement had very similar times. A schedule change of several hours can also count as a cancellation. More on our page about a cancelled Evelop flight.
Overbooking on Evelop
If you are turned away at the gate because too many passengers were booked, compensation is payable immediately, along with another flight. It is not due if your passport or entry requirements for the destination were lacking. Read our guide to Evelop overbooking and denied boarding.
Strikes, hurricanes and Evelop refusals
A strike by the airline's own pilots or cabin crew does not release it from paying (case C-28/20); one by air traffic controllers does.
An aircraft grounded for maintenance is not an extraordinary event.
Court of Justice of the EU, case C-549/07Only valid if the storm genuinely hit that airport at that time.
Outside the airline's control: care and a refund still apply.
How to claim from Evelop
You can write to the airline yourself via the contact section of iberojet.com, or leave it to us.
Free, but if the airline refuses you must turn to the national enforcement body of the country where the flight departed, or the courts.
Claim, formal demand and court action with our own lawyers. You pay only if you are paid: 25% + VAT, so from €600 you keep €417. Legal costs are ours even if the case is lost.

The Regulation has no fixed deadline: national law decides (Court of Justice of the EU, case C-139/11). Even flights operated as Evelop before 2020 may still be claimable.
Payment times
If Iberojet accepts, payment usually arrives within a few weeks; with a formal demand or court case, allow a few months.
Baggage and Evelop contact details
Lost or damaged bags fall under the Montreal Convention: file a PIR at the airport, then claim within 7 days for damage or 21 days for a delay.
