Corendon Dutch Airlines compensation: when you can claim €250, €400 or €600
Corendon Dutch Airlines is the Dutch carrier of the Corendon holiday group, best known for sun flights from Amsterdam to Turkey, Greece, the Canary Islands and the Caribbean. We have already handled claims for more than 40 Corendon passengers, mostly flying out of Amsterdam, Brussels, Bratislava and Lyon. If your holiday flight landed late, was scrapped or left you behind at the gate, you may be owed €250, €400 or €600 per person.
Plenty of travellers assume Corendon is a Turkish airline. The Dutch company is not: it is based in the Netherlands and holds a Dutch operating licence, so it counts as an EU carrier. That means Regulation (EC) 261/2004 protects you on its departures from the EU and also on the way home from Turkey, Egypt, Curaçao or Bonaire.
Late arrival
Your holiday flight opens its doors at the destination three hours or more behind schedule.
3+ hours on arrivalFlight scrapped
Corendon cancels and tells you less than a fortnight before departure, without a replacement on similar times.
Under 14 days' noticeBumped off the flight
The plane is full and you are refused boarding despite a valid ticket and turning up on time.
Payable straight awayWhen nothing is due
Genuinely external events, such as a severe storm or an air traffic control strike. A technical fault or a late incoming aircraft is not enough.
Extraordinary circumstancesAll we need is the airports and the date: check your Corendon flight and you will know in a couple of minutes.
How much Corendon Dutch Airlines pays
The amount depends only on the straight-line distance to your final destination, even when the flight came as part of a package with your hotel.
| Distance | Corendon routes from our claims | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km | Amsterdam–Palma de Mallorca | €250 |
| 1,500 to 3,500 km | Amsterdam–Ankara, Brussels–Bodrum, Bratislava–Gazipaşa, Saarbrücken–Heraklion, Amsterdam–Gran Canaria | €400 |
| Over 3,500 km | Amsterdam–Curaçao, Amsterdam–Bonaire | €600 |
Each traveller claims separately. A couple with two teenagers on a Brussels–Bodrum flight that arrived five hours late could be owed €1,600 between them, and any child with their own seat is entitled to the full adult amount.
Corendon flight delayed: what to do at the airport
Over 8 in 10 of the Corendon claims we receive concern a delay, often on the late-night flight home. What counts is the moment the first aircraft door opens at your destination, not touchdown. While you wait:
- Keep your boarding pass and the tour operator voucher showing the CD flight number.
- Ask for the reason at the desk or from the Corendon rep and write down what you are told.
- Photograph the arrivals board and note the actual arrival time; on night flights it is easy to forget.
- Hold on to receipts for food, taxis or a hotel room if no care was offered.
- Think twice about discount vouchers for your next holiday: they are not a substitute for cash.
Care Corendon owes you while you wait
Corendon must provide meals and drinks and, if departure moves to the next day, a hotel room plus transfers.
| Flight distance | Care due after |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,500 km | 2 hours |
| 1,500 to 3,500 km | 3 hours |
| Over 3,500 km | 4 hours |
| Delay over 5 hours | You may abandon the trip and get the fare back |
Missed a connection
Most Corendon flights are non-stop. If you did change planes on one booking, the delay at your final destination and the total distance are what matter. More on Corendon delay compensation.
Cancelled Corendon flight: refund and compensation
Around 1 in 10 of our Corendon cases stems from a cancellation, sometimes with the flight moved to another day of the week. You have two separate rights:
You choose between a refund of what you paid and rerouting to your destination.
€250 to €600 on top, when Corendon warned you less than 14 days before departure.
| Notice given | Compensation |
|---|---|
| 14 days or more | No, but you keep the refund or rerouting |
| 7 to 13 days | Yes, unless the new flight leaves no more than 2 hours early and lands less than 4 hours late |
| Under 7 days | Yes, unless the new flight leaves no more than 1 hour early and lands less than 2 hours late |
Big time changes. Charter departures are sometimes brought forward by several hours. If that happens shortly before you travel, it may be treated as a cancellation. Read more about a cancelled Corendon flight.
Corendon overbooking: left behind on the way to your holiday
About 5 in 100 of our Corendon claims involve denied boarding. If you were turned away because seats ran out, compensation is due immediately along with another flight. It is not due if the problem was on your side, such as an expired passport, a missing visa for Turkey or Egypt, or reaching the gate after it closed. See our guide to Corendon overbooking.
Strikes and Corendon flights
When Corendon's own pilots or cabin crew walk out, compensation is normally payable: the EU Court of Justice ruled on this in case C-28/20. Industrial action by air traffic controllers or Schiphol ground staff is an outside event, so no compensation, although meals, hotels and refunds remain owed.
Corendon turned your claim down? The usual reasons
With a small fleet, one grounded aircraft disrupts several flights. Maintenance is still the airline's own risk.
EU Court of Justice, case C-549/07An aircraft flying several return trips a day builds up delay. That alone does not justify a refusal.
It turns on who struck: Corendon crews, yes; air traffic control, no.
EU Court of Justice, case C-28/20These can be genuine, but they must have hit your flight. We check airport weather reports for the exact hour.
Corendon Dutch Airlines, Corendon Airlines Europe and Corendon Airlines: who flew you?
The Corendon brand covers three airlines. Corendon Dutch Airlines (code CD) is Dutch, with bases at Schiphol and Maastricht. Corendon Airlines Europe is licensed in Malta, so it is also an EU carrier. Corendon Airlines, by contrast, is Turkish and headquartered in Antalya.
- Flights departing an EU airport: covered whoever operates them.
- Return flights from Turkey or Egypt operated by Corendon Dutch Airlines or Corendon Airlines Europe: covered.
- Return flights into the EU operated by the Turkish company: Regulation 261/2004 does not apply.
The operating carrier appears on your confirmation or boarding pass. Flights departing the UK fall under UK261 instead, with amounts in pounds; we tell you which rules apply.
How to claim from Corendon
You can contact Corendon customer service through the website of the country where you booked, or hand the claim to us:
Free, but you need to work out which of the three airlines operated the flight and deal with any rejection. After that, your options are the national enforcement body of the country where the flight departed or the civil courts.
Two minutes to fill in the form and sign online. The claim, formal demand and court action with our own lawyers are on us. You pay 25% + VAT only if compensation arrives, and legal costs stay with us even if the case is lost.
If you have already been rejected
Forward Corendon's reply: we assess the stated reason and decide whether to send a formal demand.
What to have ready
- Booking confirmation or boarding passA package holiday document works too.
- Passport or ID cardFor every traveller, children included.
- Corendon messages and receiptsTexts, emails or notes from the resort rep.
Time limits for a Corendon claim
The Regulation sets no deadline; the law of the country where you bring the claim decides (EU Court of Justice, case C-139/11). A holiday from a few summers back may still qualify: enter your flight date.
How long Corendon compensation takes
If Corendon accepts, payment usually comes through within a few weeks. If it refuses or stays silent, a formal demand and possible court action add a few months. Once we receive the money, we transfer your share by bank transfer.
Lost or damaged luggage on a Corendon holiday
Baggage is covered by the Montreal Convention, not Regulation 261. Fill in a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) before leaving the airport, then write to Corendon within 7 days for damage, or within 21 days of delivery for a delayed bag.
