  • Cancellation: you are owed compensation if you were told less than 14 days before departure, on top of a ticket refund or an alternative flight.
  • Not owed for extraordinary circumstances (severe weather, air traffic control strikes). Technical faults and strikes by the airline's own staff usually are not extraordinary.
  • With DelayFlight24 you pay nothing upfront: if Titan Airways pays, you keep €173.75 out of €250 or €278 out of €400.

Titan Airways compensation: which charter flights qualify

Titan Airways is a British airline based at London Stansted and flying since 1988. Most of its work is for other businesses: holiday companies, airlines short of aircraft, sports teams and government departments. You may only have found out you flew with Titan when you saw the boarding pass on a package holiday or a chartered trip.

Since Brexit, Titan Airways counts as a non-EU carrier under Regulation (EC) 261/2004. The EU rules cover its flights only when they depart from an airport in the EU, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland. Flights leaving the UK fall under the UK's own version of the rules instead, with amounts in pounds.

Late arrival

You reached your final destination three hours or more behind schedule.

You were told less than 14 days before departure.

Under 14 days' notice

How much Titan Airways pays per passenger

The figure is fixed by distance, not by what the holiday cost.

Flight distance Example trips Amount
Up to 1,500 km Charters from France, Belgium or the Netherlands to the UK €250
1,500 to 3,500 km Return legs from the Canaries to the UK €400
Over 3,500 km Long-haul charters on Titan's A321LR aircraft €600

Each traveller in your party claims separately, children with their own seat included. Two adults and two kids on a €400 flight are owed €1,600 between them.

Delayed Titan Airways flight: building your evidence

On charter flights, updates usually come from the tour operator rather than the airline, so hold on to everything:

  1. Your boarding pass, showing the ZT code or the flight number of the company that hired Titan.
  2. Messages from the holiday company about the delay or new timings.
  3. The time the doors opened on arrival, plus a photo of the arrivals board.
  4. Receipts for food, taxis or a hotel you paid for yourself.
  5. No signed waivers in exchange for discount codes or vouchers.

Food, drink and hotel while you wait

Flight distance Care due after
Up to 1,500 km 2 hours
1,500 to 3,500 km 3 hours
Over 3,500 km 4 hours
Delay of 5 hours or more You can drop the flight and get your money back

Missed onward flight

If everything was on one booking, what counts is how late you reached the last stop, and the payout follows the full distance. More on Titan Airways delay compensation.

Titan Airways flight cancelled

The tour operator will usually rebook you, but that does not wipe out your rights against the airline.

Rebooking or refund

Always available when a flight is cancelled, whatever the notice.

Fixed compensation

On top, if you heard less than 14 days before you were due to fly.

Notice given Compensation
14 days or more Not due
7 to 13 days Due, unless the new flight left no more than 2 hours early and landed under 4 hours late
Under 7 days Due, unless the new flight left no more than 1 hour early and landed under 2 hours late

Big timetable change. A charter moved by several hours shortly before departure can be treated as a cancellation. See Titan Airways cancellation compensation.

Left behind at a European airport because the flight was full? Compensation is due at once, along with a seat on another flight. Read our page on Titan Airways overbooking.

Strikes and Titan Airways flights

A walkout by Titan's own pilots or cabin crew normally does not get the airline off the hook: the EU Court of Justice treats it as part of running an airline (case C-28/20). Air traffic control strikes are a different matter and usually rule out a payout.

Titan Airways turned your claim down? Typical reasons

Usually payable
"Technical fault"

Faults found during routine maintenance are the airline's own risk.

EU Court of Justice, case C-549/07
It depends
"Industrial action"

Payable if Titan crew were striking, not if controllers were.

EU Court of Justice, case C-28/20
Usually payable
"Contact your tour operator"

The carrier that operated the flight owes the money.

Often not payable
"Flight departed outside the EU"

True under the EU rules, though UK rules may still help.

Flights run for other airlines and holiday firms

Much of Titan's flying is ACMI, meaning it supplies the aircraft and crew while the flight may carry another airline's number. The carrier that actually operates the flight is responsible. For departures from Britain the UK rules apply, and the Civil Aviation Authority oversees them.

  • IDFor each passenger.
  • Messages and receiptsFrom the tour operator and the airport.

Time limits

The deadline depends on national law where the claim is brought (EU Court of Justice, case C-139/11). Give us the flight date and we will tell you if you can still claim.

How long payment takes

If Titan accepts, money usually arrives within a few weeks; if a formal demand or court case is needed, allow a few months. We email you at each stage.

Bags are covered by the Montreal Convention: fill in a PIR before leaving the airport, then write within 7 days for damage or 21 days after delivery for a delay.

Titan Airways compensation: frequently asked questions

Is Titan Airways covered by EU261?
Only partly. Titan Airways is based at London Stansted, so since Brexit it is a non-EU carrier. EU261 applies to its flights departing from the EU, Norway, Iceland or Switzerland. Flights departing from the UK are covered by the UK's own rules.
My Titan flight was part of a package holiday. Who pays the compensation?
The airline that operated the flight, which is Titan Airways, not the holiday company. Just enter the flight in our form and we will send the claim to the right place.
How much can I get for a Titan Airways delay?
€250 for flights up to 1,500 km, €400 between 1,500 and 3,500 km and €600 beyond that, per passenger, if you arrived three hours or more late and the cause was not extraordinary.
Can I claim for a Titan flight from Spain back to London?
Yes, in principle. The flight departed from the EU, so EU261 applies even though Titan is a British airline. Enter your details and we will check the cause of the delay.
The flight number belonged to another airline but the plane was Titan's. What now?
Titan often flies aircraft and crew for other airlines. The carrier that actually operated the flight is responsible, and we work that out from your boarding pass and the flight data.
Should I accept a voucher instead of cash?
Compensation is owed in money. A voucher only replaces it if you agree in writing, so check what you are entitled to before you accept anything.
How far back can I claim against Titan Airways?
EU261 sets no deadline of its own; the limit comes from national law where you bring the claim, as the EU Court of Justice confirmed in case C-139/11. Tell us the flight date and we will check.
What does DelayFlight24 charge for a Titan Airways claim?
Nothing upfront. If we recover your compensation we keep 25% + VAT, so you receive €173.75 of €250 or €278 of €400. If we have to go to court, the legal costs are ours even if we lose.
