  • Delay: if you arrive 3 hours or more late, Air Corsica owes €250 to €600 per person, depending on the distance.
  • Cancellation: you are owed compensation if you were told less than 14 days before departure, on top of a ticket refund or an alternative flight.
  • Not owed for extraordinary circumstances (severe weather, air traffic control strikes). Technical faults and strikes by the airline's own staff usually are not extraordinary.
  • With DelayFlight24 you pay nothing upfront: if Air Corsica pays, you keep €173.75 out of €250 or €278 out of €400.

Air Corsica compensation: your rights on flights to and from Corsica

Air Corsica is Corsica's own airline. It started in 1989 as Compagnie Corse Méditerranée, is majority-owned by the Collectivité de Corse with Air France as a shareholder, and is headquartered at Ajaccio airport, with further bases in Bastia, Calvi and Figari. It flies the island's lifeline routes to Paris-Orly, Marseille and Nice, plus summer services to other European cities. If your flight landed three hours late, was cancelled at short notice or you were bumped, you can claim €250 per passenger, or €400 on the few routes over 1,500 km.

As a French airline, Air Corsica must follow Regulation (EC) 261/2004 on every flight leaving the EU, and also on flights back to Corsica from outside the EU, such as Morocco.

You reach Orly, Marseille, Nice or Corsica three hours or more behind schedule.

How much Air Corsica pays: €250 in most cases

Almost the whole network is short-haul and stays under 1,500 km, which puts it in the €250 band.

Air Corsica route Distance Compensation
Bastia–Nice About 220 km €250
Ajaccio–Marseille About 340 km €250
Calvi–Munich About 690 km €250
Bastia–Paris-Orly About 880 km €250
Bastia–Marrakech (seasonal) About 1,970 km €400

Each passenger is owed the full amount, children with their own seat included: four of you on an Ajaccio–Orly flight that arrived three and a half hours late means €1,000.

Air Corsica flight delayed: what to do

A small fleet flying many shuttles a day between the island and the mainland means a morning delay often lasts until the evening.

  1. Keep the boarding pass for the XK flight, even if you booked under an Air France code.
  2. Save the texts and emails Air Corsica sends about delays or changes.
  3. Note when the doors actually opened at your destination.
  4. Keep receipts for food and, if you are stuck on the island overnight, your hotel.
  5. Say no to vouchers in place of cash until you know what you are owed.

Care while you wait

Route Meals and drinks after
Corsica–mainland and European routes up to 1,500 km 2 hours
Routes over 1,500 km, such as Morocco 3 hours
Departure moved to the next day Hotel and transfer
5 hours or more Refund if you no longer want to fly

Missed connection at Orly or Nice

On a single booking with a delay of three hours or more at the final destination, compensation is based on the full distance. More on our page about Air Corsica delay compensation.

14 days or more before No

Under 7 days before Yes, unless the replacement leaves no more than 1 hour earlier and arrives less than 2 hours late

Revised timetable. A flight moved by several hours a few days before departure may count as cancelled. Details on our page about Air Corsica cancellation compensation.

Air Corsica overbooking

In August and over bank holiday weekends, flights to Ajaccio, Bastia and Figari sell out. Denied boarding because too many seats were sold? €250 is due immediately, as well as rerouting or a refund. Nothing is due if you turn up after the gate closes or without valid ID. See our guide to Air Corsica overbooking.

Air Corsica pilots' strike: October 2026

Pilots' unions SNPL and SPAC filed strike notice for 9 to 16 October 2026 in a dispute over pay. A strike by the airline's own staff is not an extraordinary circumstance (case C-28/20), so if your flight was cancelled at short notice or arrived three hours late, compensation is normally due. An air traffic control strike, on the other hand, rules it out.

Air Corsica turned you down? How to respond

It depends
"ATR aircraft grounded"

Since September 2026 five of the seven ATR 72-600s have been grounded during investigations. Fleet availability is normally the airline's responsibility, unless a hidden defect is flagged by the manufacturer or the authorities.

EU Court of Justice, case C-549/07
Usually payable
"Knock-on delay"

The airline has to prove an extraordinary event caused the original delay.

Often not payable
"High winds at Calvi or Bastia"

Valid only if conditions really stopped that flight.

Has Air Corsica already said no? We look at the reason and, if it falls short, move on to a formal demand and court. Check your flight.

Air France and ITA Airways codes on Air Corsica flights

Many Corsica–mainland flights are also sold under Air France flight numbers, and Air Corsica has shared codes with ITA Airways since 2022. What matters is who operated the aircraft: if it was Air Corsica, the claim goes to Air Corsica.

Claiming from Air Corsica: on your own or with us

On your own

Write to customer service via aircorsica.com and chase every step. If that fails, contact the national enforcement body of the country where the flight departed (the DGAC for France), then the courts.

With DelayFlight24

A two-minute form; our lawyers handle the claim, formal demand and court case. You pay only if it succeeds: 25% + VAT, so €173.75 net from €250. Legal costs stay with us, even if we lose.

If Air Corsica has already refused

Send us its reply: if the argument is weak, we follow up with a formal demand.

Documents

  • Ticket or boarding passShowing the flight number.
  • IDFor each traveller.
  • Notices and receiptsTexts, emails and expenses.

How long you have

The Regulation gives no deadline: the law of the country where you bring the claim applies (case C-139/11). Enter your flight date.

When you get paid

If Air Corsica accepts, payment usually comes within a few weeks; a formal demand or court case adds several months.

Damaged luggage with Air Corsica

Air Corsica compensation: frequently asked questions

Is Air Corsica covered by EU 261?
Yes. It is a French airline based in Ajaccio, so the Regulation covers its flights leaving the EU and its flights into the EU from outside, such as returns from Morocco.
How much does Air Corsica pay for a delayed flight?
€250 per passenger on routes up to 1,500 km, which is almost the entire network: Bastia–Nice, Ajaccio–Marseille, Bastia–Orly. Longer routes such as Bastia–Marrakech pay €400.
Can I claim for the October 2026 pilots' strike?
Normally yes, if your flight was cancelled with less than 14 days' notice or arrived three hours or more late. The EU Court of Justice has ruled that a strike by the airline's own staff is not an extraordinary circumstance (case C-28/20).
My flight was cancelled because the ATRs were grounded. Am I owed compensation?
It depends on the exact cause. Aircraft availability is normally the airline's responsibility, so compensation is often due. The exception is a hidden defect flagged by the manufacturer or the authorities. Send us your flight and we will check.
I booked an Air France flight number but flew Air Corsica. Who do I claim from?
From the airline that operated the flight, which is Air Corsica. Your rights are unchanged, and you can enter the flight number shown on your booking in our form.
Do high winds at Calvi mean no compensation?
Only if they genuinely prevented that flight from landing or taking off. You still keep the right to care and to a refund or rerouting. Bad weather at a different time of day is no excuse.
Air Corsica offered me a voucher. Should I accept?
No need. Compensation is payable in cash unless you agree in writing to a voucher. Check what you are owed first.
How long do I have to claim from Air Corsica?
EU 261 sets no deadline; it depends on the law of the country where you claim. Flights from a few years back are often still claimable.
What does DelayFlight24 charge for an Air Corsica claim?
Nothing upfront. If we recover your compensation we keep 25% + VAT: from €250 you receive €173.75, from €400 you receive €278. Legal costs are ours even if a case is lost.
